Identity

Our true selves can only be found in Christ. Our identity is not in who we are or what we’ve done, but in who Christ is and what he’s done. Let us build our life upon his love, for it is a firm foundation. Let us identify with and in Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection, being transformed to his likeness by The Holy Spirit. We are no longer slaves to sin; we are now children of God.

All other forms of identity: our past, our present, our gender, our sex, our political affiliation, our race, and our culture are to no longer divide us but to unite us under the banner of Christ's blood. This is why Paul writes “there is neither male nor female, slave nor free, Jew nor Greek, for all are one in Christ Jesus.”
