Faith and Doubt

James 1:5-8

Wisdom is essential for navigating the difficulties of life, and the world’s push for self-entitlement. In adversity, we are wounded by the trials and by our expectations.

True wisdom acknowledges the reality of suffering and suggests we were made for something more, for a better world. It is essential because we don’t have all the answers, exposing us in our trials as not knowing all there is to know.

God is the one who defines wisdom. We ought to not have one foot in God’s wisdom, and the other in the world’s wisdom. This leaves us sick, tossed by the waves and wind. You can doubt your beliefs but never believe your doubts.
