The Narrow Gate

Matthew 7:13-29

Jesus ends his sermon on the mount with a warning about false belief. True belief is about putting what we hear to practice, but we can still do the right things in the wrong way. Jesus warns that many who have even prophesied, cast out demons, and done many miracles will not enter the kingdom of heaven. It's a harsh and confronting warning.

How can we know if we are truly saved? We must be poor in spirit and find the narrow gate. We must recognise that we are not good enough to know Jesus, but need to have absolute dependence on what Christ has done for us on the cross. We are only his because of his love for us. May we build our foundation on him, knowing that obedience without forgiveness is useless but forgiveness without obedience is incomplete.
