The Lord is my shepherd

Psalm 23

Living with Jesus, the good shepherd of Psalm 23, is living peacefully, meaningfully, together, and forever.

Peace can only come by knowing Christ, and all other forms of peace are hollow. You will never find the green pastures and still waters unless Christ the Good Shepherd leads you there, and you are his sheep. Jesus paid the price to save us from dead, and to bring us to his fold.

The peace we know in Jesus is to encourage us to live meaningfully in righteousness. Our life is for his reputation: The measure of our life is to reflect our rescuer.

We live together with him through the mountains and valleys of pain and suffering. God is with us. His rod and staff comfort and protect us; his nail-scarred hands reminding us he has overcome. In the valley we know that God is God, and when enemies surround us we can picnic with Christ. When we see our weakness, we learn Jesus’ strength. When we get out of the valley, we can share of the peace and goodness of Christ our Good Shepherd.

Our journey with Jesus, past the green pastures, and past the mountains and valleys, will end in eternal peace and rest with Jesus in heaven.
