Gender Fluidity

Psalm 139:1-24

What is gender? Where is our identity?

We live in a time where we are told to live for ourselves, and define our own identity. Amidst confusion, we must look to God’s Word which says all people are made in the Image of God. That our identity is in Christ, not in our own self identity. We are all works of art, crowned with God’s glory and honour, fearfully and wonderfully made in the womb, and known by God. Because of sin, the world is not as it should be, and individual identity is not as it should be. We have one foot in Genesis 1 and one in Genesis 3, one with God and one with sin. None of us are at home in this body or in this world.

We must walk with those who struggle, and though we won't always have the right words, we are to remind them of the hope and love in Jesus. We are to tell those who feel rejected and question their identity about the good news of Jesus, the suffering servant who was beaten, mocked, and crucified on a cross for our sins, to restore us back to the Image of God. In Jesus we find hope and freedom. In Jesus we find our true identity through being united to him.
