Faith and Action

James 1:19-27

Hypocrisy, judgement, and abuse are the three main reasons people, even those who believe in God, refuse to attend a church. Worthless religion is not worthwhile to us, to others, or to God.

Worthwhile religion is about hearing and heeding, which go hand in hand. It's about turning away from sin and turning to Jesus. He took our filth and wickedness, nailing it to the cross, and rising from the dead to grant us salvation, righteousness, and eternal life. Never grow weary of hearing about what Jesus has done. Heed the word of God and for it transforms you into doing good works. Faith leads to action grounded in the scriptures, in response to what God has done for us through Jesus Christ. We are to be people shaped by the word in our conversations and not pull people down constantly but build them up. Whoever cannot bridle their tongue has a worthless religion. Let the word of God transform your actions and character.
