I Am the Good Shepherd
John 10:1-21
Shepherds were peasants who lived nomadic lives, roaming on the edges of society from village to village. Their reputation was questionable, yet Jesus - instead of calling himself the good king or good priest or good noble - called himself the good shepherd. The good shepherd knows us completely, and loves us completely. We are fully known and fully loved by God.
We have abundant life in the good shepherd who leads us beside streams of cool, refreshing, water. This abundant life is not one of wealth, but a promise of eternal life. Jesus did not come to give us more of the world, but more of himself, and a promise of a perfect world to come. Is knowing God more to you than your reputation, your wealth, your desire for intimacy? It should be. Paul counted everything as loss compared to knowing Christ. What Christ says we must do, where he goes we must follow. We ought to not just hear his voice, but live out his commands., knowing that he is the good shepherd who can be trusted.

Guy is a passionate communicator of the gospel who is committed to engaging culture with the beauty, truth, and relevance of Jesus. Guy graduated with a BA in Public Relations from RMIT University, has a Masters of Divinity from Ridley College and is currently completing a Doctorate of Ministry with Wheaton College. He is the husband to Vanessa and the father to four children. He is an ordained Anglican Minister and serves as an Archdeacon in the Diocese of Melbourne.
