I Am the Light of the World

John 8:12-20

The rescue from sin, death, and darkness has gone global.

In the past, God led Israel out of the darkness of Egypt through appearing as a pillar of fire by night, but now God has appeared in flesh through Jesus to lead the world away from the darkness of sin and death. Jesus is a light like no other to all who follow him.

Let his light shine into your darkest moments, fears, struggles, and secrets. May we continue to follow his light even in our dark times, and shine his light in the dark world.

Jesus is a light of great certainty, and his claims are historical fact. His promise of the future in the new heavens and earth is one of no light: because he will be the light. May we have confidence, even in the dark times, that Jesus is the Light of the World, and may we share his light with the world.
